I was brought on as the First Hand for this production after we had started production. I was tasked with assisting Benjamin Streeter, the lead draper, in creating the Dresses for Cinderella, Stepmother, and the Ballroom Girls. On top of hand-stitching applique, I also stitched and placed all the ruffles for both pink dresses. One of the most difficult tasks we overcame was making up the transforming pink gown, which was capable of being “torn” and then completely ripped off to reveal the golden dress.

This was by far the most difficult task for this production. We had gone through multiple iterations of the dress before landing on a velcro-based pull-apart system that came off in one big piece. My job as first hand was to create all the ruffles, as well as stitching the skirt and bodice together.
